Ground Wave DMB TPEG goes abroad
Ground wave DMB gets into its stride in Asia. In Singapore, for example, Transport Protocol Expert Ground (TPEG) based on the ground wave DMB will has been established.

On Monday 26, Ministry of Information and Communication of Korea (MIC) called a conference in Singapore in order to support the diffusion of ground wave DMB that Mediacorp, a government-run broadcasting station in Singapore, will take for providing its services.

For this purpose, Mediacorp made a contract with I-Set that built Korea Broadcasting System¡¯s ground wave DMB TPEG. According to the contract, Mediacorp will provide real-time traffic control service by using the existing DAB nation-wide network.

This contract between the Mediacorp and I-Set, which will be finally concluded in December, includes the establishment of the same system with Korean TPEG and various services for place-based interesting spots (hotels, restaurants, movie theaters, and parking lots).

This is the first case that TPEG, which has been newly developed as a supplementary service of ground wave DMB, is exported. It is expected that medium and small enterprises, which have related technologies, make inroads into the foreign markets.

The contract is also expected to positively influence on Korean enterprises that are doing cooperative businesses in Indonesia and Malaysia to provide the ground wave DMB incoder and terminals.
