Samsung Electronics, successful live HSUPA demonstration
Samsung showcased world's fastest and latest mobile technology, HSUPA.

Samsung announced successful demo of its latest telecommunication technology HSUDA at the 'ITU Telecom World 2006' being held in Hong Kong, China from December 4.

Samsung grabbed much of attention from event visitors and telecommunication industry with live demonstration of its newest developed HSUPA network device and mobile phone (SGH-G630), capable of reaching speeds up to 2 Mbps for uplink and 3.6Mbps for downlink. The demonstration was highlighted by lightning fast speeds of live video streaming and large file transfers.

In comparing upload speeds of WCDMA to the latest HSUPA technology, it only takes 1 minute to upload 5 MP3 songs (3 MB song) under HSUPA, while it can take up to 5 minutes to upload the same using WCDMA.

HSUPA allows higher mobile data communication uplink speeds for pictures, video clips and also can easily handle downloading large multimedia files.

HSUPA (High-Speed Uplink Packet Access) delivers same downlink speed of 14.4Mbps like that of 3.5G mobile technology HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) but its uplink speed of 5.76 Mbps is about 15 times faster than the HSDPA.

Samsung, with its successful demonstration of the HSUPA will bring new HSUPA equipment and devices in the global mobile broadband services market.

Especially now, HSUPA can ride on the latest internet hit UCC (User Created Content) like popular website 'YouTube' to further speed up the popularity of high speed mobile internet market.

Samsung earlier in May introduced world¡¯s first HSDPA phone (W210) in domestic Korea with first HSDPA phone (ZV50) in Europe and followed that with ZX20 in North America. Now, Samsung¡¯s HSUPA equipment and devices further strengthened its reputation as leading innovator in the mobile broadband services market.

Samsung plans to introduce the first commercial HSUPA phone in European mobile phone market. Samsung will initially team up with Orange and other major carriers by 2007.

Kitae Lee, President of Telecommunication Network Business at Samsung Electronics, said, "Samsung, with the first HSDPA phone introduction earlier and now the HSUPA became a world leader in next generation of mobile broadband technology. Samsung with the HSUPA and WiBro will further introduce latest 4G technology developments to lead the next generations of communication."
