World's first DVB-H Broadcast, South Korean phone topping Nokia
South Korean firm to supply DVB-H(Digital Video Broadcasting - Handheld) mobile TV phones to Italy's mobile communication industry for commercial service, allowing world's first broadcast of its kind.

On this note, both Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics announced that Italy's no.1 3G mobile communication company 'Hutchison Italia' will receive their DVB-H TV phones, which will allow Italy to broadcast world's first DVB-H broadcast using Korean made phones.

Nokia's DVB-H 'Sovernty' Pushed Back
Europe's emerging DVB-H system led by Nokia is one of the three competing world standards along with South Korea's DMB and Qualcomm's MediaFLO.

It¡¯s especially eye-catching to note that Korea's DVB-H phone came out first before the European market leader Nokia.

In addition, with this DVB-H combined with success from previously unveiled world's first UMTS MediaFLO and terrestrial DMB Phones by South Korea made it a solid leader in global mobile TV market.

Samsung and LG, supplying DVB-H phones to Italy and Hutchison
Samsung Electronics(www.samsung.com) will supply third generation 3G WCDMA system DVB-H phones with model SGH-P920 and SGH-P910 to both Italy and Hutchison Telecoms within this May.

Italy's biggest mobile comm. 'Telecom Italia' earlier had agreed to start WiBro services in early part of coming year using technology from Samsung Electronics. Further, Italy¡¯s largest 3G communicator Hutchison started Europe's very first mobile communication service previously in 2003.

Samsung's 3G DVB-H phones SGH-P920 and SGH-P910 come with state of art features like real time TV viewing, two way data service and many multi tasking functions. They also come with 1.3 Mega pixel cameras, Bluetooth, dual speakers with array of multimedia functions and not to mention the wide screen design for better viewing experience.

LG Electronics(www.lge.com) also will supply DVB-H phones (Model:LG-U900) as World's first to Hutchison allowing it to distribute to Italy's 5000 retail outlets. LG Electronics was featured as VIP in its media launching show sponsored by Hutchinson via famous 'Cine Citta'(Hollywood equivalent event)in Rome Italy on 24th, April.

On this day's LG-U900 unveiling event was attended by LG's head of Mobile-Communication President Moon-Hwa Park, Hutchison support team's vice-president Ki-Hong Suh and Vincenzo Novari of Hutchison Italy and many other guests from government officials to broadcasting, movies and sports and press totaling about 500 people.

The LG-U900 with its slim design has 2.2"wide LCD screen to deliver high quality images, up to 3 hours of real-time broadcasting with two way service like real-time voting capability and also its ability to send/receive text messages while viewing broadcast program. With its easy grip ergonomic design for TV viewing and circular moving LCD T- style to wireless bluetooth headset make listening stereo music possible.

Italy & Germany taken over by Korean Mobile TV phones
Presently, Italy's DVB-H service is provided by two companies ¡®Telecom Italia¡¯ and 'Hutchison'. Coming this May 15th, the 'Hutchison' will begin world's first commercial DVB-H broadcasting service.

Especially, Hutchison have already signed for the exclusives of DVB-H broadcasts to Germany's 2006 FIFA soccer games to air entire FIFA matches through 'La3' (La Tre) for the DVB-H TV phones. Also the 'Telecom Italia' have ongoing plans to broadcast throughout Italy with contracts from 'Mediaset' and 'La7.'

Subsequently in Italy, with Korean made DVB-H phones and in Germany with Korea's mobile TV system DMB phones will provide German World Cup Soccer matches to their respective viewers.

In Europe where the DVB-H has stronghold and especially with very popular event like FIFA tournament that can bring all European nations under one place will be handled by Korean mobile TV system and phones. Thus it¡¯s enabling South Korea to continue remain as a global leader in Mobile TV technology.
