Korean online game world championship 'Game N Game World Championship 2006(GNGWC 2006)' got on the way in Seoul by five regions globally.
On July 20, against five global regions, Korean online game event 'GNGWC 2006' blew its horn to mark its 3 months long competition. The GNGWC 2006 is an E-Sports event that began previously in 2004 and 2005 in Taipei, Taiwan with slogan ¡®Play Global, Play Online'
The GNGWC 2006 event will host competitions in three games; MMORPG
Silkroad Classic online golf game
Shot-Online and a casual shooting action game
Gunbound with contestants from Korea, Japan with rest of Asian nations and also from North America and Europe to all gamers in the world.
The early registration of the contestants for the GNGWC 2006 got on the way from the third and will continue until July 21. After that from July 24 thru Aug. 12, preliminaries will be held and from Aug. 19 thru Sep. 9, the playoffs between the different regions. However, within Korea, each game will be played with elimination rounds.
Finalists from each regional playoff will earn the invitation ticket to the finals that will be played in Suwon, Korea on September 23. Each first place winners to second and third place winners will receive prize money of USD $5000, $3000 and $1000 for the three competing game categories respectively. The first winner for the Gunbound game will receive USD $10,000.
KIPA¡¯s director Hyun-Jin Ko, the main sponsor KT, premium sponsors of Suwon city and its associate members and various affiliates attended the day¡¯s opening ceremony from the related game industry showing much interest to the marketing Korean online game industry with GNGWC 2006 event.
It¡¯s especially noteworthy what KIPA¡¯s director Ko said in his opening remarks in the opening ceremony, "GNGWC 2006's host South Korea features 100% domestically produced online game that will lift the image of current level of developing nation to major global service nation by hosting this event. Gamers from all over the world that are participating the event will bring much needed exposure for the domestic Korean online game industry and same time raises the international competitiveness."
