MS will support Asia's first UN ICT Development Center
MS, on the 16th, has signed MOU contract with UNESCAP(United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific) to give tech support to the very first ICT Development Center (Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development) soon to be opening at Inchon, South Korea.

The MOU was signed by UNESCAP operation director Hak-Soo Kim and MS Asia Pacific regional director Eduardo Rosini. Also in the attendance were MIC(Ministry of Information and Communication) Minister, Jun-Hyong Rho and Mayor of Inchon, Sang-Soo Ahn.

The opening of ICT development center is the UNESCAP's main program to bring up IT human resources in Pacific Asian region. Under the power and support from Korean administration, the Asia's first ICT center will provide opportunity to experience and share valuable IT skills to all developing nations and IT trainees and to give added support to the developing countries.

MS in accordance with MOU contract will provide software and service support with assistance to roadmap to develop internship programs and other various supports to the ICT development center. MS will also give IT trainings and certifications to the center's educational staff.

Microsoft will also provide extensive educational materials and related support too. The trainings will be provided on different levels of developing IT skills and abilities with e-government solution, online collaborative efforts, communication skills, IT system compatibility, security and safety in internet, intellectual property rights and other various fields that requires tech supports and latest resources.

The operations director Kim said "South Korea is geographically an ideal place for the center location and has reputation for being the leader in IT technology thus it can serve as a very ideal hub to lessen the gap of digital technology among countries in Pacific Asian region."

He also pointed out "providing latest technology with assistance from public sector is very important part of UN¡¯s new millennium development goals, the opening of ICT development center is a good example of continuing partnership between the administration and enterprises to fulfill Asian Pacific community's needs."

MS' Eduardo Rosini said "IT technology can serve as a very effective tool in every sector of economy and MS is also in parallel with the intention of ICT development center to bring developing nations in Asian pacific region to more equally even levels." He also added "This project is especially more meaningful because it serves as an ideal case of promoting developing abilities in IT technology that can be shared. It also shines the spot light on city of Inchon as a hub to Pacific Asian region. MS, in long time working partnership with Korea is very glad to be a part of developing IT communication in Pacific Asian community along with UNESCAP and Korea as contributors."
