A mobile phone exploded in South Korea, killing a man.
This is the first time that the explosion of mobile phone causes a death, though the explosion itself is not the first time. Accordingly, concerns about the cause of the explosion and the person's death are becoming intensified.
The explosion occurred at 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday 28 at a quarry in BooYong-Myun, CheongWon-Gun. Mr. Suh, an excavator driver, was down and found by Mr. Kwon who reported to 119. He was immediately sent to a hospital. However, he was already in the state of death when he arrived at the hospital.
It is known that Mr. Suh has the scar of a burn in his left breast and the lung hemorrhage caused by the fractures of rib and spine. The mobile phone is also totally damaged: all of its back side is melted and disappeared, and its main frame is extremely curved.
The type of the mobile phone exploded is not uncovered, but its maker is known as a famous electronic company.
According to a person concerned, "National Institute of Scientific Investigation (NISI) is now examining the cause of the explosion and the person's death. The explosion is in fact impossible because we use lithium polymer battery. We have to watch until the cause is elucidated."
As this accident makes extensive headlines, the company concerned is trying to prevent its name from being released to the public for fear that it will be hard hit by the decrease of domestic demand and export.
